Supporting Te Hōnonga a Iwi Restoring Rosedale Park is just part of a raft of activities the team at Stormwater360 does to improve environmental outcomes and protect our waterways for future generations.

Stormwater360, is an industry leader in stormwater management and has shown an unwavering commitment to the restoration initiative since its inception. “It’s a local initiative that aligns with our vision and mission of protecting and preserving waterways,” says Stormwater360 Sales Associate Anna Li.

Sustainability and environmental stewardship are paramount to Stormwater360. “Our exposure to the challenges facing water environments in the stormwater industry fuels our commitment to combat the disappearance of natural waterways, loss of habitat for native species, and deteriorating water quality,” Anna says.

“Through the deployment of our cutting-edge technologies, we aspire to prevent environmental damages and provide a restorative opportunity for wai.”

The company’s dedication to sustainability is reflected in its ongoing practices – it exclusively uses native plants in its Filterra® stormwater bioretentention treatment systems, fostering biodiversity. Stormwater360 operates a soft plastic recycling programme at its offices, minimises plastic packaging in grocery purchases, and ensures at least 90 per cent of the packaging for its products is recyclable or biodegradable.

The Stormwater360 team have been dedicated volunteers at Te Hōnonga a Iwi, participating in three business working bees over the past two years. “We engaged in pest plant management, clearing blackberry in the control area of the restoration, and removed inorganic refuse in 2022, including items such as old couches, tires, computers, typewriters, and polystyrene. Additionally, our support extended to mulch pickup in 2022 and the planting of native species during a working bee session in 2023,” says Anna.

The Rosedale restoration is not the only community activity Stormwater360 supports.

“We collaborate with Sustainable Coastlines, introducing our LittaTraps™ to local schools and organisations, contributing to ocean and waterway protection by preventing litter from entering the stormwater system."

“As early sponsors of the Litter Intelligence programme, we are deeply committed to education on water pollution and support additional initiatives such as Seaweek and Whitebait Connection. We also support Gumboot Friday, which addresses mental health in New Zealand, and local water-focused organisations, including the Orewa Surf Club.”

Te Hōnonga a Iwi project co-ordinator Nicky Shave says the team from Stormwater360 have been very valuable contributors to the restoration.
