Westhaven Marina Day 2018

13 April 2018

The Westhaven Marina Day was a fun day for the whole family to see and experience what the marina has to offer. It was a lovely sunny day with craft markets, fishing, kayaking, food stalls and sailing.

Stormwater360 was asked to attend this event as we have a range of our products installed at the marina to manage the stormwater runoff from the Auckland Harbour Bridge motorway and other surrounding areas before it enters the sea.

The LittaTrap™ and Enviropod® are installed at many sites at the Westhaven Marina. These easy-to-maintain catch pit inserts trap plastic, litter and other gross pollutants before they can reach the ocean.

Common items found in the LittaTrap™ and Enviropod® at the marina are fishing lines, lollipop sticks and straws which are very harmful to marine life.

Another Stormwater360 product that is installed at the Westhaven Marina is the StormFilter™. This system uses rechargeable, self-cleaning, media-filled cartridges to absorb and retain the most challenging pollutants from stormwater runoff including total suspended solids, hydrocarbons, nutrients, soluble heavy metals, and other common pollutants.

Maintenance of the StormFilter at this site was carried out prior to this event where we took one of the dirty cartridges to showcase. This cartridge was almost black with pollutants which would have otherwise ended up in the sea.

The Stormwater360 team had fun educating the public about how our devices work to manage stormwater and reduce its impact on the environment!
