Filterra® receives Auckland Council product approval

16 October 2017

Auckland Council has recently added the Filterra biofiltration system to their product acceptance register, allowing the Filterra to be vested as a public asset and follows the private use approval received earlier. A copy of the product acceptance is available from http://www.stormwater360.co.nz/assets/Uploads/2017-09-15-Auckland-Council-Filterra-Public-Approval-Letter-of-acceptance-for-SW360-Filterra.pdf

As part of the application process, Stormwater360 arranged for a maintenance demonstration of an installed Filterra at the Auckland Botanical Gardens in Manurewa. A time-lapse video of this routine maintenance activity is available on StormwaterTV via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evXJ59h6Cl4. Maintenance is simple and safe, with no confined space access required, and typically takes only 15 minutes per device.

Design Manager Troy Brockbank says “This is testament to Stormwater360’s commitment to deliver innovative stormwater management technologies to the New Zealand market, clean up our waterways and improve environmental wellbeing. This acceptance will give specifiers peace of mind and more choice for designing green infrastructure on public sites, especially where limited space constraints and stringent environmental conditions apply.”

The Filterra System is a revolutionary rapid bioretention system. The system is an engineered biofiltration device with components that make it similar to bioretention in pollutant removal and application, but it has been optimised for high volume/flow treatment and high pollutant removal. With its low life cycle cost, this is one of the most cost-effective green infrastructure stormwater treatment systems on offer.
