StormFilter was selected by OPUS International Consultants for its proven treatment performance and to minimise the system footprint allowing the device to be installed in the existing land adjacent to the motorway.

Zeolite, Perlite and Granular activated carbon (ZPG) filter media was used in StormFilter cartridges to treat the high traffic loading of the roadway sections. ZPG filter media was chosen because of its ability treat Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and to adsorb dissolved heavy metals and PAH, which are likely to occur on the site because of the high traffic loading.

Maintenance

Due to the nature of maintaining motorway sites with the associated high vehicle loadings, it was essential that maintenance requirements were kept to a minimum. The typical maintenance interval for load based StormFilter designs is between 12 and 36 months, meaning StormFilter has lower on-going maintenance costs and longer cleaning frequencies than other proprietary filtration systems.
